Kickstart

In order for investors to feel comfortable with R-Wind it is necessary to establish a basic framework to demonstrate the viability of the ideas behind R-Wind.

This means having several turbines up and running serving trial communities and showing the expected levels of return to make the system attractive.

This takes time.

To obtain conventional finance and, often, to obtain the manufacturers warranty it is necesseary to erect a meteorological mast to monitor wind-speeds. This needs to be in place for a minimum of 6 months and possibly 12 months.

Planning permission for a met. mast has to be applied for.

Tubine lead time can often be more than 18 months especially now with the rapid demand for turbines.

Planning permission hurdles can take over a year to jump and with an environmental impact assessment to be prepared on top of this.

So - from start to finish can easily take over 3 years if jobs are done sequentially.

This is a dishearteningly long period of time and it would be unfair to have participants in R-Wind hanging on for that long period with no return on their investment. That is why the 'Kickstart' phase must be compleated before opening any participant accounts.

R-Wind has a list of sites suitable for the 'Kicksart' phase but if you feel that a project could be particulary popular in your area please please contact R-Wind. Take a look at the 'R- Project' page to find out more.
